Where to buy?

In Geneva and the surrounding area:

Wineries

Because Geneva’s countryside is so easily accessible from the city, residents usually buy wine directly from the producers where they can also wine taste and discover the winery’s whole range (not all of which will be available elsewhere). Wines made from any given harvest are usually on sale in April of the following year.

Wineries are open at least once a week, on Saturday morning. With the exception of the harvest season, when they are otherwise occupied, the winemakers themselves will be there to chat with clients and present their wines.

Stores

Geneva wines may also be purchased at specialty stores such as:

022 752 44 71) and rue des Sablières 15, Meyrin-Satigny (tél. 022 341 10 55) and 1 ch. des Cornaches in Bernex (tel +41228509160). Has a big selection.
  • Department stores (Manor, Globus) and supermarkets (Coop) also stock some Geneva wines.

Restaurants

Many local restaurants, including all the top establishments, feature Geneva vintages on their wine lists. Geneva wines are also available at restaurants designated “Terroir Ambassadors” because they showcase local produce.

In the German-speaking part of Switzerland:

Because of the generally small volumes produced and the fact that Geneva wines are still relatively little-known in German-speaking Switzerland, they are not usually available at big Swiss-German distribution outlets, with some notable exceptions like Baccarat, the Cave de Genève’s sparkling wine. However, the selection is gradually getting bigger, and specialty stores increasingly stock Geneva wines.
